<a href="http://tribune.com.pk/story/836004/syria-informed-about-us-led-strikes-on-is-assad/"><br /> <img alt="" height="120" src="http://i1.tribune.com.pk/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/836004-basharalassadreuters-1423556299-269-160x120.jpg" width="160" /><br /> </a><br /> <p><p><strong><strong class='location'>BEIRUT: </strong>Damascus receives “information” about air strikes by the US-led coalition against the Islamic State group in Syria, President Basharal Assad said in an interview published on Tuesday.</strong></p><br /><p>“Sometimes, they convey a message, a general message,” he said in an interview with the BBC in Damascus. “There is no dialogue. There’s, let’s say, information, but not dialogue.”</p><br /><p>Damascus has grudgingly accepted the strikes against IS on its territory that began on September 23 last year, but has repeatedly criticised the coalition for failing to coordinate with it. It says the raids cannot defeat IS unless the international community starts cooperating with Syrian troops on the ground. In the interview, Assad ruled out joining the coalition against IS.</p><br /><p>“No, definitely we cannot and we don’t have the will and we don’t want, for one simple reason — because we cannot be in an alliance with countries which support terrorism.”</p><br /><p>The comment appeared to be a reference to coalition support for other rebels groups fighting to overthrow him, all of which his government derides as “terrorists”. Assad said US officials “easily trample over international law, which is about our sovereignty now, so they don’t talk to us, we don’t talk to them.”</p><br /><p>More than 210,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began with anti-government protests in March 2011.</p><br /> </p><br /> <br clear="all"/>

<a href="http://tribune.com.pk/story/836001/think-romantically-but-shop-for-versatility-this-valentines-day/"><br /> <img alt="" height="120" src="http://i1.tribune.com.pk/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/836001-vday-1423556238-641-160x120.jpg" width="160" /><br /> </a><br /> <p><p><strong><strong class='location'>NEW YORK: </strong>A little advice on shopping for your valentine: when aiming Cupid’s bow, you do not need a perfect bull’s eye to score points with your sweetheart.</strong></p><br /><p>Researchers from the University of Cincinnati show that thoughtful lovers’ burning desire to show off just how well they know their partner could get them burnt.</p><br /><p>So instead, think romantically but shop for versatility.</p><br /><p>“When it comes to choosing gifts for close others, like romantic partners, givers try especially hard to be thoughtful and demonstrate their knowledge of their partner,” said Mary Steffel, assistant professor of marketing.</p><br /><p>Ironically, these attempts to be thoughtful can backfire.</p><br /><p>“We find that givers tend to choose more specific, less versatile gift cards when shopping for romantic partners than friends, but that recipients prefer more versatile gift cards regardless of how close they are to the giver,” Steffel explained.</p><br /><p>The research features data analysis from multiple experiments where participants were asked to put themselves in the role of a giver or recipient and then choose between gift cards that varied in terms of specificity or versatility.</p><br /><p>Steffel and her team also incorporated real-world data from multiple gift card services, such as Giftly, into their research.</p><br /><p>The results showed a giver’s preference for personalisation often worked against him or her.</p><br /><p>“Recipients took longer to redeem gift cards the more specific they were,” Steffel said.</p><br /><p>“Givers did not anticipate this. They thought it would take recipients equally long to redeem regardless of how specific they were,” the authors noted.</p><br /><p>The team is scheduled to present the findings at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology annual conference to be held Feb 26-28 in Long Beach, California.</p><br /> </p><br /> <br clear="all"/>

Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $ 4 billion <em>Spider-Man</em> franchise, on July 28, 2017. Sony Pictures will continue to finance and have final creative control of the <em>Spider-Man</em> films.</p><br /><p>The new relationship follows a decade of speculation among fans about whether <em>Spider-Man</em> – who has always been an integral and important part of the larger Marvel Universe in the comic books – could become part of the Marvel Universe on the big screen. <em>Spider-Man</em> has more than 50 years of history in Marvel’s world, and with this deal, fans will be able to experience <em>Spider-Man</em> taking his rightful place among other Super Heroes in the MCU.</p><br /><p>Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future <em>Spider-Man</em> films.</p><br /><p>Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company said: “<em>Spider-Man</em> is one of Marvel’s great characters, beloved around the world.
